2024 USA Visa Sponsorship Jobs: Which US states allow foreign workers to apply for H-1B visa?

USA Visa Sponsorship Jobs 2024: Obtaining an H-1B visa is a popular path to employment in the United States. Under the US law, US employers are allowed to hire non-immigrant foreign workers in specialty vocations under the H-1B program. For international students looking for professional prospects, America continues to be the top choice. Because the United States offers a three-year option for practical training, or optional practical training, international students have historically favored STEM degrees. Employers in the United States who want to hire foreign nationals for non-immigrant positions in specialized fields may apply for the H-1B program.

Know about H-1B Visa Sponsorship

Employers or companies may choose to hire foreign graduates to work in the United States through sponsorship of an H-1B visa. For these graduates to be sponsored for an H-1B visa, they must meet certain qualifications in particular professions. Naturally, there are still a number of US businesses that will sponsor visas and hire recent grads from other countries.

Know which US States provide H-1B Visas

It can be difficult to find American firms who are more accommodating to international workers applying for H-1B visas. According to a research “Connecting Dots: How International Students Are Finding US Jobs,” published by Intead and the job search engine F1 Hire, the states with the highest average number of H-1B applications per corporate sponsor are Washington, North Carolina, Texas, and Michigan.

  • In 2023, companies in three states Texas, New York, and California accounted for 39% of all sponsored H-1B petitions for international students.
  • When Virginia, Michigan, and Massachusetts are included, the total number of H-1B applicants will make up 50% of all sponsored employment in 2023.
  • PERM applicants who obtained degrees from Brazil and the Philippines have increased since 2018, despite the fact that Indian applicants make up the majority of those seeking employment as international students in the US (28%).
  • Nine of the ten businesses that sponsored PERM applications in 2023 were in the technology sector.
  • Hiring a foreign worker to work permanently in the United States is permitted by the Department of Labour (DOL) with a permanent labour certification (PERM).

Survey Reports

The survey also notes that the largest ratios of H-1B occupations to international students enrolled in institutions are found in Nevada, Montana, New Mexico, Colorado, Tennessee, and Nevada. Virginia, Michigan, North Carolina, and other states have large percentages of employers who welcome international students. The reports offer advice on how foreign students can get employment in the US. Examine schools exhibiting significant ties to firms who are PERM and H-1B friendly, and give consideration to those located in states where such employers are prevalent.

Up and Downs in the Percentage of PERM Applicants

In the past 5 years, the proportion of PERM applicants with US degrees has increased to 59%, whereas by 2023, the proportion of applicants with US degrees from India had dropped to 28%. For the top 12 sending nations, the percentage of PERM applications from individuals with degrees obtained outside of the US fell from 48% to 43% in between 2018 and 2023.
