UGC invites applications for approval of ODL: There is a notice that applications from an accredited Higher Educational Institutions (HEI) have been issued by the University Grants Committee (UGC) to provide Open and Long Distance Lessons (ODL) for the 2025 academic year. The fiscal year 2025 and 2026 is scheduled to begin in July or August 2025. UGC notes that the Application window for recognition was launched on March 13, 2025.
The deadline ends on April 3, 2025. Institutions can access deb.ugc.ac.in to review information and enroll in the course. To verify the information and sign up for the courses, institutions can go to deb.ugc.ac.in. The official announcement states that the online application period will be open until April 3, 2025. The original affidavits and annexures must be submitted in physical copy by April 15, 2025. For HEls eligible to provide online programs and Category-l HEIs eligible to offer Open and Distance Learning (ODL) programs, the application period is open all year long. According with rules 3(A) and 3(B) of the UGC (Open and Distance Learning Programs and Online Programs and on line programs) guidelines, 2020 and its amendments, the official be aware states: ‘UGC will invite new online programs from higher educational establishments to understand open and district gaining knowledge of (ODL) mode and/or online mode applications, educational periods from 2025 to 26, from academic year begin from July-August 2025 and onwards.

UGC has made it apparent that submitting an application does not ensure that it will be accepted. All applications will be thoroughly reviewed to verify that they meet the UGC (ODL and Online Programmes) Regulations, 2020, and its modifications. Institutions aiming to expand their reach through online and remote learning must adhere to UGC regulations and submit applications by the deadline.
The commission said in its notice, “Merely submitting an application should not be interpreted as a grant of approval, and each and every application must be examined in light of the requirements outlined in the UGC (ODL Programs and Online Programs) Regulations 2020 and its amendments.”

Students must check the UGC website to confirm the institute’s recognition and eligibility status prior to enrolling. They have to carefully check the program specifics on HEI websites to make sure the name, duration, and admission requirements match the UGC requirements listed on the portal.
