Social Security Disability Benefit Changes: Social security administration is changing the eligibility criteria for providing SSI and SSDI monthly payment to the Eligible individuals in the country. Now you need to fulfill all the new updates and eligibility criteria to continue your payment in future, however if you are going to apply for first time for the payment then you should also check the latest eligibility as the upcoming application forms will be accepted if they fulfill the updated retirements. We are providing you all the important details of SSA new eligibility criteria including who will con benefit, what are the changes made by SSA etc.

The social security administration is providing a monthly payment to the disabled and senior citizens in the country which is very helpful for those who are unable to make sufficient payment to fulfill the daily life expenses included purchasing the food, medical treatment, rental expenses etc.

Disability Benefits

Government is continuously upgrading the working mechanism of SSA to provide the benefit to the large number of citizens. Government has find out that there are many outdated requirements listing in the eligibility criteria of SSA benefits which are not relevant in and this era. So this should be removed which will help new beneficiaries to collect their payment.

Update Occupations List

The monthly payment of social security administration is provided according to the occupation and earning of the applicant. If an individual is earning more than the income cap decided by SSA, then they will receive reduced payment or will received zero benefit. Apart from this government is  prioritizing to the citizens who are unable to get the job in the specific field is related to their skills. But there are many traditional jobs listed in the SSA beneficiary eligibility criteria which are replaced in this time and not required.

For example telephone operator is one of the listed occupation which is now unnecessary in today’s job market. Apart from the telephone operator, Agriculture engineer , model and astronomer etc are one of the occupations which have been revised in the new eligibility criteria of SSA. So if any individual belongs to the above occupations then they will not required to provide income or job details to start the SSA payments.

Work History Requirement Revised

The Government of USA is only providing financial assistance to those who are unable to perform their regular work due to disability or physical limitation. For example if a citizen is engaged in construction worker job and able to earn the sufficient money for their family, but suddenly due to disability or any other physical challenging situation, he cannot perform his regular work then can he apply for the SSA payments.

But they need to provide the working history to the authority to verify their details. Currently individuals have to provide at least 15 years work history to the SSA and after that have to show the reason to unable to perform physical task. But now the duration of work history has been reduced from 15 years to 5 year only. Where if any individual work for 5 years and after that cannot perform the regular physical task then he can apply for the SSA program payments.

Impact of Revised Eligibility on Beneficiaries

It is a very good initiative by the government which will invite new beneficiaries to get the payment per month according to their disability. After reducing the working history and unrelated works occupation, new applicants will get opportunity to apply for the payment and can use the benefits accordingly.

However the scheme will help to the new citizens to receive the SSA payments, but it will not make any difficulty for existing beneficiaries of SSA to receive their payments. So if you have applied for the program earlier then you are not required to revise your eligibility as you have completed the minimum work history to collect the payment.
