Post Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship For Girls: Our Indian government is running a scheme for single girl children under the name of “Indira Gandhi Postgraduate Scheme”. This scheme aims at the welfare of single child girls who are pursuing their post graduation. Under this scheme, the Government will select 3000 candidates on merit basis.
The beneficiaries will get an annual amount of rs 36000 for 2 years to complete their master degree courses. It means a total of 72000 rupees will be provided to each of the selected candidates. Conditions to consider for Indira Gandhi Postgraduate Scheme
- The candidate must be enrolled in a regular PG course of any of the Indian universities.
- After completing first year graduation, Candidates will be required to submit their progress report in Canara bank in which they must have scored 55% marks.
- After every 3 months, students will have to submit a continuity certificate.
- If a student drops in the period of their PG courses then she will have to return all the scholarship amount provided by the government under the scheme
Eligibility Criteria Of Indira Gandhi Post Graduate Scheme
- This scheme is a national scheme and the funding will be provided by the Central government itself so the candidate must have the citizenship of India.
- The candidate must be enrolled in an Indian renowned University. It means the deemed universities which are not in contact with the central government will not be favoured under this scheme.
- The candidate will have to attend the university regularly and the distance learning students will not be favoured under this scheme.
- Candidate`s age must be less than 30 years while pursuing her first year post graduation and only those candidates who are in first year PG courses are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
- Candidate must be the sole single child of her house. It means even brothers should also be absent in the family.
Benefits of the Post Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship For Girls
To support PG students financially, the Government has promised to provide the candidates an annual amount of 36200 for 2 years so that they can complete their post graduation studies without facing any financial disturbance. This scheme aims at not only supporting PG students but also for empowering women of India.

- Aadhar card of the student.
- Enrollment confirmation in UGC approved Indian institutions.
- Joining report (As per annexure-I).
- Legal declaration certificate of being the single girl child in the family. ( based on annexure-II ).
- Duplicate copy of bank account passbook.
- Birth certificate/ Certificate of completion of Secondary Education.
- Passport size photo of the candidate.
- Progress report of first year. (To be provided by the Institution)
- Fund utilisation Certificate of First year( to be provided by the institution)
How to apply for Indira Gandhi postgraduate scholarship
- Candidates who are eligible will have to apply online for this scholarship through NSP`s portal after an announcement is made on UGC`s official website.
- The institutions where the candidate is pursuing her post graduation will be required to authenticate the online submitted application.
- Under this scheme, the institutions will not have to impose any tuition fees on the candidate for pursuing her post graduation in that institution.
