8th Pay Commission Latest News: कर्मचारियों का न्यूनतम वेतन 50,000 रुपये से ऊपर? इतनी बढ़ेगी सैलरी-पेंशन

8th Pay Commission Latest News: The most trending discussion at the moment is about the next pay commission, as the 7th Pay Commission, which was established in 2016, is about to conclude its ten-year term in January 2026. Employees of the Central Government are anxiously awaiting updates on the 8th Pay Commission. Under the PM Manmohan Singh administration, the 7th Pay Commission was established in the year February 2014.

Salary and pension reforms were significantly altered as a result of its recommendations. But since its term ends in January 2026, focus is now on the upcoming panel. Previously, the basic salaries of government employees were reviewed and adjusted by a new pay commission that was established every ten years.

Fitment Factor Is Essential for Pay Increases

The fitment factor, which establishes the magnitude of pay and pension increases, is a key component of all pay commissions. The minimum salary was Rs 7,000 and then increased to Rs 18,000 under the 7th Pay Commission, which also set the fitment factor at 2.57%.However, the higher fitment factor of 3.67 that the employee unions had requested was not accepted.

For the 8th Pay Commission, unions expect a minimum fitment factor of 2.86%. Shiv Gopal Mishra, the National Council of Joint Consultative Machinery (JCM) Secretary, recently underlined this demand. The adoption of the 2.86% fitment factor may result in significant increment in pay and pensions. Currently, Rs 18,000 is the minimum wage for the government employees. It could increase to Rs 51,480. Additionally, pensions could increase significantly from 9 thousands to Rs 25,740.

  • One important tool that guarantees consistent hikes across pay grades is the fitment factor. Employees of the central government are able to meet rising costs because of this methodical adjustment, which preserves their purchasing power.
  • There is increasing pressure to form the next commission because the 7th Pay Commission’s term ends in 2026.
  • Discussions continue to focus on the fitment factor and how it affects pay and benefits.
  • The future of government pensions and salaries in India may be significantly shaped in the coming months.

Missed Announcement in the Union Budget

Before the Union Budget 2024–2025 was presented in July 2024, there was a great deal of conjecture surrounding the establishment of the 8th Pay Commission. According to media reports, the panel might be announced by the Center during the budget session. However, employees were left waiting for clarification as no such announcement was made.
