AB PM-JAY 3.0: The Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav announced the new Cabinet approval on Ayushman Bharat scheme for senior citizens in the country. During the election campaigns, Narendra Modi promised to the seniors in the country to make them eligible for Aayushman Bharat Yojana after getting elected in Lok Sabha elections 2024. Now the cabinet approved the AB PM-JAY eligibility for seniors and Minister of information in broadcasting of India Ashwini Vaishnav announced the new eligibility for seniors through press conference. Where seniors more than the age of 70 years can get the benefits of Ayushman Bharat Yojana and will get covers up to 5,00,000 rupees annually.
AB PM-JAY 3.0: Rs 5 lakh Health Cover for seniors
According to the new rules of Ayushman Bharat Yojana, senior in the country of 70+ years old will get 5 lakh rupees covers annually under the scheme. The 5 lakh cover will be provided to the family who have already applied Ayushman Bharat Yojana. Currently Only lower class and middle class people who are earning less than the Rs 5 lakh can apply for the Pradhanmantri Jan aarogya Yojana.
But now, 70 years + seniors in the country from lower class, middle class and upper middle class can also apply for the scheme. However the 5 Lakh rupee cover will be provided annually to the all seniors in the family. For example if a family have one member of more than 70 years old then they can get 5 lakh cover for them, But if a family have two seniors of age 70 or more than 500000 cover will be distributed to both seniors.

12.3 crore families getting benefit
The Union Minister informed that more than 12.3 crore families are enrolled in Ayushman Bharat Yojana and getting medical assistance from the central government. There are total 6 crore families in the country and more than 5 crore families will be registered in the scheme after implementing it for senior citizens also.
Family who are already registered with Aayushman Bharat scheme will get option to add their seniors also in their Ayushman card. Apart from this those families who are not registered with Ayushman Bharat scheme due to their ineligibility for the scheme will also get option to apply for Ayushman card for their senior members in the family and will get 5 lakh rupees per annum cover.
How to add family members in Ayushman card
So if you also want to add your senior members of the family in Ayushman card then have to follow the following procedure through online mode in your mobile phone; Firstly you need to visit on the official website of Ayushman card beneficiaries or can click on this link to visit directly https://beneficiary.nha.gov.in/
- Now you will reach on the new page where you have to enter the captcha code available on the screen and mobile number of the applicant. Please enter the mobile number which is already registered on this portal.
- Now you have to link Aadhaar card of the applicant on this portal and after that will see the option of add family member
- Enter the category of member as senior citizen and provide all the basic details of the senior citizen

After that you have to upload Aadhar Card information of the member and click on the submit link. So the authority will activate the new member on your Pradhanmantri Aayushman Bharat card and you can avail benefits of the AB PM-JAY 3.0 scheme accordingly.
