Uttar Pradesh cabinet has approved an old pension scheme in the state for approximately more than 60000 government teachers. CM Yogi approved OPS for government teachers in the state
The cabinet of Yogi Adityanath approved the old pension scheme for employees in the state including government teachers on the 25 June meeting. 60000 teachers will get the Old Pension Scheme

According to the reports, more than 60000 teachers in the state joined the Uttar Pradesh government in 2006. So legally they are not eligible to receive the old pension scheme. But they joined the department for the advertisement notification which was released in 2005. That is why they all will receive old pension scheme payments. Apart from teachers, other departmental employees of the Uttar Pradesh government can claim the old pension Payment.
Last opportunity for ops
Most of the employees are receiving the National pension scheme only and they are demanding getting benefits of the old pension scheme. However, the Supreme Court of India allowed only those Government employees who joined the service before the launching of the national pension scheme in 2005 can only claim the old pension scheme.
After that judgment, the Central Government also issued a notification to provide an old pension scheme to the Eligible beneficiaries. Now state Government of Uttar Pradesh has also released an office memorandum of releasing the old pension scheme for all eligible employees. OPS contribution will be transferred
Candidates who opted for the old pension scheme, should not worry about the funds that they have submitted during their employment to the OPS, because the finance department of the state will transfer all the contributions of the employees to the PPF or GRF fund automatically after June 2025.

Employees are demanding the old pension scheme
Old pension schemes have many benefits and returns to the contributors which are not continuing in the National pension scheme after 2005.
